FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
The writer states that dance is a competitive sport and takes “strength, endurance, agility, dedication, skill, co-ordination and your body must be in top condition” therefore is just as much of a sport as any other (cosmic joke).

By definition a dancer must be “trained or skilled in exercises, sports or games requiring physical strength, agility or stamina” in order to be considered an athlete (cosmic joke).
The author spends some time discussing why dance is not considered a sport in stating that “dance is not an Olympic sport” and not shown “on the sports networks” (cosmic joke).
The injuries that occur in other sports and in dance are all “classified as sports injuries” (cosmic joke).
All sports can be done for amusement but are not mastered without “hours of practice and years of dedication” (cosmic joke).

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):

In the article the issue of whether or not dance is a sport is brought in to question.  The author of the article argues that dance it just as physical and painful as any other sport.  The writer also states that dance is a competitive sport and takes “strength, endurance, agility, dedication, skill, co-ordination and your body must be in top condition” therefore is just as much of a sport as any other.

Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?

The author is known as the screen name of cosmic joke. The site is not that well known but seems to be a blog site.

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?

The author aims to earn a name for the dance society.  Dance is understated in many people’s minds but the author tries to show that it is just as difficult as any other sport. The author wants others to understand his/her connection with the topic.

Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?

There definitely is a bias toward the side of dance because of the arguments made in the article about the fact that dance should be considered a sport.

References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?

The author does take definitions from both The Farlex Dictionary and The Merriam Webster Dictionary.  These sources add to the credibility in that it gives more factual evidence about the author’s opinions.

Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?

I plan to use this source in my project because it not only portrays how I feel about the topic of dance not being a sport but includes factual evidence of reasons why it should be a sport and why it is not a sport.
